Blog 15 – The phases of productions
1) Describe what are the phases of production, for the following businesses: a) “How is made chocolate” b) “How is made honey” c) “How is made Pringles” Using the logic make or buy decide which phases externalize.
A) The phases of production for the Chocolate factory are:
1) Remotion from the cacao grains of all the extraneous materialthrough machines; 2) Shelled and roasted carefully; 3) Transformation in cacao liquor; 4) Extraction of cacao butter and cacao powder through a special machine that press the fat part of cacao; 5) Mixing of cacao with other ingredients to make chocolate as cacao butter, sugar and milk; 6) Rafinement of chocolate into a small powder; 7) Expulsion of humidity from chocolate to make it a uniform liquid; 8) Tempering of the chocolate to make it shine; 9) Moulding in chips, bars or disks; 10) Vibration to remove the bubbles; 11) Cooling of the chocolate; 12) Packaging of the finite product.
This factory adopted the make logic for his entire production process, maybe, the only factor of production which has been bought could be the package.
B) The phases of production for the honey factory are:
1) Collection of the honey, producted by the bees, from their cells; 2) Uncuping the honey from the wax, which would be used to make candels, etc; 3) Extraction of the honey; 4) Vacuum cleaning the jars; 5) Packaging the honey.
This production is entirely thought with the make logic.
C) The phases of the Pringles productions are :
1) Construction of the special tubes and their covers; 2) Mixing of water, potatoes flakes and corn starch; 3) Rolling the mix in a long potato sheet 4) Cutting of the chips 5) Frying the chips making them concave to make them stakeble; 6) Packaging the chips in their tubes.
Even the tubes are built in the factory, so the entire process is conducted with the make logic.
A) 1) create a plastic model with specific machinery 2) use a double boiler to liquefy chocolate 3) put hot liquid chocolate into the molds 4) let the chocolate cool down 5) packaging 6) some particular chocolate need supported by hand
they don't decide to external the production, they produce all the chocolate in their firm
B) 1) the bees create honey using flowers nectar 2) Bee keepers take honey by the beehive 3) bee keepers put the beehive into a machinery that scroll down the honey 4) the frames are shacked into another machinery to finish the extracting of honey 5) some frames doesn't need machinery so the bee keeper cut it into regular pieces 6) when honey is too much the bee keeper conserve it in solid form 7) when they need more honey the liquefy at high temperature the solid honey to obtain again liquid honey 8) a machinery put the honey in bottles
This business is done all in the internal azienda that grow up the bee and than use their honey
C) 1) big roles of plain brown paper and foil back paper are coated with glue 2) the paper obtain a cylindric form 3) the paper is cutted in equal empty cylinder 4) all the cylider will turn uspide down 5) a metal tube is putted inside the paper, it will be the container 6) some machineries put on the metal tube a seal and a stamp with the brand 7)the metal tube will turn uspide down again because they are ready to fill in with potatoes 8) they create potatoes with water and lyophilozed potatoes 9) they mix them and transform them into long potatoes 10) a machinery cut the long potatoes into the oval ones that everybody knows 11) while they are going to the friar a role gives them the particular concavity 12) potatoes stay few seconds to make crispy 13) a machinery and a worker put them in straight line 14) than a machinery put them into tubes
this firm decide to produce its products with machinery to produce faster and better its products
A) First of all, there is the acquisition of cocoa beans. Then productive combination is done as Annalisa Carosi listed. From the video we can just see the entire productive combination so we can't say if the firm purchases the packaging materials or not, but we can imagine it though. Of course, the machines and other facility instruments are purchased from third parties.
B) This type of production must not even acquire its raw materials (the honey) as it is given by the nature. It has almost the making in-house logic but since machines, bottles and other components of the production is obviously obtained from other firms, it can't be considered as my colleagues asserted.
C) My colleagues listed all about the productive combination. I would agree to Annalisa Carosi that it has the logic 'make' of production as the components of the product are produced in the firm, but the only thing is the machines are, of course, bought from other firms.
In the video to the chocolate factory, we can observe the following stages of production: clean cocoa beans through the use of machinery, skinning and roasting, cocoa trasformations in liquid form, extraction of butter and cocoa powder, mixing the cocoa with other food products, the refining of chocolate, the process for making chocolate a uniform liquid, the production of chocolate bars and other variants, removal of the air bubbles, cooling and packaging of the product. The stages of factory production of honey are: production of honey by the bees, separation and collection of honey from the bee boxes, a division of honey from the wax, honey filtration to remove impurities, preparation of containers and pouring honey in jars. The production phases of Pringles potato chips are: production of cardboard boxes, label application on cardboard cylinders, product mix to form the basic material of the chips, the formation of a sheet of base material (potato starch and water) and cropping individual chips, fried potato with concave mold, check for any abnormalities in the product and final packaging of Pringles. In the case of the chocolate factory, the company buys cocoa beans and then processes them. Even the paper and packaging materials are purchased elsewhere. Importantly, this is done through an industrial production machinery and is not a handicraft produzone therefore also the machines were purchased. Overall, apart from the primary materials this company uses the logic of the make. The sex valee for the other two companies as machinery and materials such as paper, cardboard and cans are purchased elsewhere but overall the product is manufactured entirely in house.
1) Obtaining cocoa beans and having the best quality possible obtainig chocolate liquide through artificial machines processes production of a stamp, obtainment of a chocolate bar vibrating the product to remove any air packaging the product
2 collection of honey from bees cells extraction of it and finally packaging it into a product
3 obtaining potatoes cutting them frying them and give them the classic characteristics of chips packaging
1) How is made chocolate • Dried grains are run through machines to remove all extraneous material • They are shelled and roasted carefully • Roasted nibs are grinded • Sugar, natural vanilla and milk are added to cocoa powder • Tempering stage • Vibratrion to remove bubbles • Packing In this case, I think the only phase that could be delegated to third parties is packing. 2) How is made honey • In a field honey-bees suck from flowers’ blossoms and in the hive other worker-bees chew it • They depose i tinto cells and make water evaporate • The bee’s keepe sprays smoke in the hive • A rasor shaves the honey from the cells • Bottling In the production of honey, I don’t think the azienda needs to externalize any phase.
3) How is made Pringles TUBES • Roles of plain brown paper and foil back paper travel across rollers coat them with glue • Label paper • Paper and foil tube enter a “tourning station” • Addition of lids CHIPS • Addition of water, potato flakes and cornstarch • The mix is rolled in one long potato sheet • The chips are cut • They are fried • Packing The company could decide to purchase the paper tubes from other specialized aziende, focusing on the production of potatoes
Phases of production of the companies aforementioned are: - Pre-production which includes raw material - Production of this being part , the machines but also the workers - Post-production includes packaging products, distribution and sale . Regarding the chocolate and Pringles production , I would externalize the packaging process , as for the honey production I believe that the collection of raw materials could be externalized .
_How is made chocolate? • Dried flakes are treated in machines. • Roasting. • Milk and sugar are added. • Removing bubbles. • Packing phase. In my opinion, packing phase can be externalized. _How is made honey? • Bees’ natural work. • Spraying smoke into bee cells. • Extrapolation of honey from the cell • Packing in bottles. In producing honey, maybe only the last phase could be externalized. _How is made Pringles? • Paper is rolled up through the use of roller. • Add label. • Addition of coverage. • Addition of water and potato flakes. • Cutting the product • Frying. • Packing I think Pringles can act in the logic of make or buy by differentiating tube production and that of potatoes ones.
1) Clean up of cacao grains 2) skinning and roasting
3) liquefying cacao 4) Extracting cacao butter and powder 5) Mixing of cacao with other products 6) refining of chocolate 7) processing chocolate to improve his liquidity 8) processing chocolate to improve his aspect 9) pouring the chocolate into moulds 10) removing bubbles 11) cooling and packaging of the product
The only input we are sure that they buy from the market are the cacao grains
B) Honey factory:
1) Bees produce honey 2) Gathering of the honey 3) dividing honey from wax 4) remove impurities from honey 5) Cleaning the jars and pouring honey in 6) Packaging the honey.
Probably they buy jars from the market
C) The phases of the Pringles productions are :
1) Production of the special tubes and their covers; 2) Create the chips-making mixture 3) produce a sheet with the mixture 4) Cutting of the chips 5) Frying the chips into un a specific mould 6) Packaging the chips in their tubes.
Probably they buy all the ingredients from the market so they can focus their attention on the specific processes
Steps for making Chocolate 1) clearing cocoa beans, extraction of extra materials 2) roast cocoa beans 3) Make liqour out of cocoa beans 4) Extraction of cacao butter 5) Mixing all ingriedents together 6) Making chocolate into the desired consistency 7)Cooling down chocolate 8) giving Cholocalte differnet forms 9) removing air bublbles 10) Packaging the product Every step is made in the factory itself. Sugar, milk and packaging may bought.
Steps for making honey
1) Gathering honey from the shell, 2) dividing honey from the wax 3) cleaning of the jars 4) packaging final product
Production of honey is make logic.
Steps to make Pringles
1) Making special tubes 2) Mixing ingredients 3) making chips 4) Cutting of the chips 5) Backing chips 6) Packaging chips.
A) there are three types of chocolate; Milk, White and Dark all three have the same first steps but then to finish consist of different ingredients.
Step 1- Plucking and opening the cocoa beans Step 2 - Fermenting the cocoa seeds Step 3 - Drying the cocoa seeds Steps 1 - 3 are done at the cocoa villages, once bought by chocolate companies the dried cocoa seeds are then shipped to the factories where the next steps take place Step 4 - Roasting and Winnowing the cocoa Step 5 - Grinding the cocoa nibs, which makes cocoa liquor Step 6 - Blending cocoa liquor and molding chocolate
Milk Chocolate - sugar, milk or milk powder, cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, Lethicin and Vanilla. White Chocolate- sugar, milk or milk powder, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, Lethicin and Vanilla. Plain Dark Chocolate - cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, sugar, Lethicin and Vanilla.
Step 7 - vibration, to remove any bubbles Step 8 - cooling to allow chocolate to set
Steps 1-3 are usually external businesses who then sell the cocoa beans to the chocolate companies The production of the packaging in some companies is also externalised allowing a factory to focus solely on the production of the chocolate
B) The production of honey Step 1 -Honey gets its start as flower nectar, which is collected by bees, naturally broken down into simple sugars and stored in honeycombs. Step 2 -Beekeepers — large and small — harvest honey by collecting the honeycomb frames and scraping off the wax cap that bees make to seal off honey in each cell. Once the caps are removed, the frames are placed in an extractor — a centrifuge that spins the frames, forcing honey out of the comb. The honey is spun to the sides of the extractor, where gravity pulls it to the bottom and it can be collected. Step 3 - After the honey is extracted, it is strained to remove any remaining pieces of wax or other particles. Some beekeepers and bottlers might heat the honey to make it easier to strain, but this does nothing to alter the liquid’s natural composition. It only makes the straining process easier and more effective. Step 4 -After straining, it’s time to bottle, label and distribute the honey to retail outlets.
Normally for small companies honey is extracted and sold in one place and there is no external factors, but for large companies that sell honey, usually they will have separate factories for the production of honey and for the bottling as they produce on such a large scale
C) How Pringles are made
Step 1 -the company starts with a slurry of rice, wheat, corn, and potato flakes and presses them into shape. Step 2 -The snack-dough is then rolled out like a sheet of ultra-thin cookie dough and cut into chip-cookies by a machine. Step 3 -Those molds move through boiling oil and fry for a few seconds. Step 4 -Then they're blown dry, sprayed with powdered flavors, and at last, flipped onto a slower-moving conveyor belt in a way that allows them to stack. Step 5 - Placed into circular tubes produced within the factory
Every part of production is done by the business and nothing is out sourced
1) In the chocolate factory case we can distinguish these phases of production: - Create plastic models to make specific forms of chocolate products - Melt the chocolate in a huge boiler - Fill-up the plastic models with fresh chocolate - Let them cool down - Remove them from the plastic models - Collection and packaging This process of production is absolutely manageable inside the factory without externalizing any phases.
2) In the honey factory case we can distinguish these following phases of production: - Beekeepers get the honey's slab from the beehive - Through the use of a particular machinery the honey is extracted from the slabs - Dividing honey from the wax - Honey insertion inside the jars - Packaging and labeling The honey production is mainly made inside its own factory but perhaps they could delegate the beekeeping to some breeders specialized in the sector letting them feed the bees during some particular periods of the year.
3) In the Pringles factory case we can distinguish the following phases: - Production of label paper - Insertion of the paper in a cylindrical cardboard - A metal tube is put in the cardboard box - Finishing the boxes putting lids - Creation of a huge potato sheet - Extracting oval pieces from the sheet - Modifying slightly the form of the potato through a machinery - Frying - Combination of labour and capital to divide and check them - Machinery make the portions - Packaging and corking The Pringles factory case show us that is a process completely made inside the factory with a high level of machinery coordination and organization, and therefore there aren't phases of production to externalize.
How is made chocolate: 1) Removing all extraneous materials and run dried grains 2) Roasting 3) Milk, sugar and vanilla are added 4) Tempering stage 5) Packing Maybe the packing phase could be externalized.
How is made honey: 1) Natural work of bees 2) Water evaporation into bees’ cells 3) Extrapolation of honey from the cells 4) Bottling In this production I don’t think we could externalize any phase
How is made Pringles: 1)Construction of tubes 2)Blending water, potatoes flakes and cornstarch 3)Rolling the mix in a long potato sheet 4)Chips are cutted 5)Fried 6)Packing The production of tubes could be externalized
HOW IS MADE CHOCOLATE 1.cleaning cocoa beans 2.roasting cocoa 3.transforming cocoa liquor 4. extracting cocoa butter 5. adding sugar, vanilla, milk for different kind of chocolate. 6. transporting chocolate into the refine machine 7. testing the temperature of the chocolate 8. shaking chocolate to remove bubbles 9. transforming chocolate into different forms. 10. packaging chocolate
this production is based on the logic make but probably packagings are not produced by the firm itself and the machines are bought from other firms (logic buy)
HOW IS MADE HONEY 1.bees produce honey in the beehive. 2.beekeepers spry smoke on bees to enter the hive and take honey cones 3. uncapping machine removes any wax from honey. 4.honey is extracted and filtered 5.honey is ready for bottling
this production is based on the make logic (manufacturing a product in-house). still in this case I think machines are bought from other firms (logic buy)
HOW IS MADE PRINGLES 1.machines make the pringles packaging and cover them on the top 2.potatoes powder are mixed with water 3. potatoes come into the sheet of the machine that makes them concave 4. potatoes are put into hot oil 5.machine gets rid of the extra oil 6. workers inspect the chips 7. chips are put into their packaging.
I think the production is based on both make and buy logic. they buy machines from other firms and they probably buy potatoes from the market.

How to make Honey 1. Collection of the honey, produced by the bees, from their cells 2. Extraction of the honey; 3. Packaging the honey.
How to make Pringles 1.Mixing ingredients with special recipe 2.Making chips 3.Cutting them 4.Frying 5.Packaging chips into the tubes
1) How is made chocolate? Cocoa grains are treated in machines and roasted Then the operators add milk and sugar Occasional bubbles are removed through shaking machines Packing phase. 2) How is made honey? After the natural “work” of the bees an operator sprays into bee cells to get rid of the animals. Then the honey is extrapolated from the cells and eventual residual beeswax is removed Lastly the honey is packed into bottles. 3) How is made Pringles? Paper is rolled and cut Then a label with the bran of the producer is added Lastly, the package cover is put on top To prepare the chips, machines mix together water and potato flakes The product is then cut and shaped into curves. Then the chips are fried and packed
1) Chocolate factory: -clean up cacao grains; -roast cacao grains; -liquefy cacao; -extract cacao butter and cacao powder; -mix cacao with milk and other products; -refining of chocolate; -packaging of chocolate. The only input they buy from the market are the cacao grains, they could produce them by themselves or exernalize the first two phases by buying cocoa grains already roasted. 2) Honey factory: -bees produce honey; -collecting honey; -dividing honey from wax; -packaging the honey. They buy just jars from the market, they could produce them by themselves. 3)Pringles' factory: -production of tubes; -production of Pringles mixture; -cutting of the chips; -packaging of the chips into their tubes. They buy just Pringles ingredients from the market. They could exernalize the first phase by buying tubes.
How is made chocolate: Dried flakes are treated in machines Then they're roasted Milk and sugar are added Bubbles removed Packing phase. The packing phase could be externalized
How is made honey: Bees’ work Spraying smoke in bee cells Then the extrapolation of honey from the cell Packing in jars Beekeeping could be externalized
How is made Pringles: Paper is rolled up through the use of roller. Label is added Coverage is added Water and potato flakes are added Cutting phase Frying Packing I think that there are no phases to be externalized
1. Chocolate factory: - Remove grains of all the extraneous material through machines - Shelled and roasted carefully - Transformation in cacao liquor - Extraction of cacao butter and cacao powder through a special machine that press the fat part of cacao - Mixing of cacao with other ingredients to make chocolate as cacao butter, sugar and milk - Expulsion of humidity from chocolate to make it a uniform liquid - Moulding - Vibration to remove the bubbles - Cooling of the chocolate - product packing.
2. honey factory : Collection of the honey - Extraction of the honey - Vacuum cleaning the jars - Packaging the honey.
3. Pringles productions : Creation of the special tubes and their covers - Mixing of water, potatoes flakes and corn starch - Rolling the mix in a long potato sheet - Cutting of the chips - Frying the chips making - Packaging the chips in tubes.
How is made chocolate: 1. The cocoa beans are cleaned to remove all extraneous material. 2. To bring out the chocolate flavour and colour, the beans are roasted. 3. A winnowing machine is used to remove the shells from the beans to leave just the cocoa nibs. 4. The cocoa nibs undergo alkalisation to develop the flavour and colour. 5. The nibs are then milled to create cocoa liquor. 6. The cocoa liquor is pressed to extract the cocoa butter, leaving a solid mass called cocoa presscake. 7. The cocoa butter is used in the manufacture of chocolate. 8. The cocoa presscake is broken into small pieces to form kibbled presscake, which is then pulverised to form cocoa powder. 9. Cocoa liquor is used to produce chocolate through the addition of cocoa butter. 10. The mixture then undergoes a refining process by travelling through a series of rollers until a smooth paste is formed. 11. Conching, further develops flavour and texture. 12. The mixture is then tempered or passed through a heating, cooling and reheating process. 13. The mixture is then put into moulds or used for enrobing fillings and cooled in a cooling chamber. 14. The chocolate is then packaged for distribution to retail outlets.
They don't externalize the packaging. It is faster to pack the product inside the firm.
How is made honey: 1. Remove hive inner cover from top super 2. If no queen excluder was used, inspect frames for brood and only remove frames that are without brood. 3. Add fume board to top of hive to force bees into lower parts of hive. 4. Transport frames in supers to honey house 5. Heat and dehumidify frames in honey house for 1– 2 days 6. Use refractometer to check that moisture content is below 18.5% 7. Remove the wax cap on capped honey manually (Uncap) 8. Load honey extractor 9. Turn on honey extractor motor 10. Run extracting process for several minutes 11. Remove extracted frames from extractor 12. Empty extractor sump: Let collected honey flow into storage container via gravity. 13. Filter honey 14. Grade honey 15. Bottle honey 16. Market and sell honey
They don't externalize the packaging. It is faster and cheaper to pack the product inside the firm.

• Bottling
In the production of honey, I don’t think the azienda needs to externalize any phase.
3) How is made Pringles
TUBES
• Roles of plain brown paper and foil back paper travel across rollers coat them with glue
• Label paper
• Paper and foil tube enter a “tourning station”
• Addition of lids
CHIPS
• Addition of water, potato flakes and cornstarch
• The mix is rolled in one long potato sheet
• The chips are cut
• They are fried
• Packing
The company could decide to purchase the paper tubes from other specialized aziende, focusing on the production of potatoes
Phases of production of the companies aforementioned are:
ReplyDelete- Pre-production which includes raw material
- Production of this being part , the machines but also the workers
- Post-production includes packaging products, distribution and sale .
Regarding the chocolate and Pringles production , I would externalize the packaging process , as for the honey production I believe that the collection of raw materials could be externalized .
_How is made chocolate?
ReplyDelete• Dried flakes are treated in machines.
• Roasting.
• Milk and sugar are added.
• Removing bubbles.
• Packing phase.
In my opinion, packing phase can be externalized.
_How is made honey?
• Bees’ natural work.
• Spraying smoke into bee cells.
• Extrapolation of honey from the cell
• Packing in bottles.
In producing honey, maybe only the last phase could be externalized.
_How is made Pringles?
• Paper is rolled up through the use of roller.
• Add label.
• Addition of coverage.
• Addition of water and potato flakes.
• Cutting the product
• Frying.
• Packing
I think Pringles can act in the logic of make or buy by differentiating tube production and that of potatoes ones.
A) Chocolate factory:
ReplyDelete1) Clean up of cacao grains
2) skinning and roasting
3) liquefying cacao
4) Extracting cacao butter and powder
5) Mixing of cacao with other products
6) refining of chocolate
7) processing chocolate to improve his liquidity
8) processing chocolate to improve his aspect
9) pouring the chocolate into moulds
10) removing bubbles
11) cooling and packaging of the product
The only input we are sure that they buy from the market are the cacao grains
B) Honey factory:
1) Bees produce honey
2) Gathering of the honey
3) dividing honey from wax
4) remove impurities from honey
5) Cleaning the jars and pouring honey in
6) Packaging the honey.
Probably they buy jars from the market
C) The phases of the Pringles productions are :
1) Production of the special tubes and their covers;
2) Create the chips-making mixture
3) produce a sheet with the mixture
4) Cutting of the chips
5) Frying the chips into un a specific mould
6) Packaging the chips in their tubes.
Probably they buy all the ingredients from the market so they can focus their attention on the specific processes
Steps for making Chocolate
ReplyDelete1) clearing cocoa beans, extraction of extra materials
2) roast cocoa beans
3) Make liqour out of cocoa beans
4) Extraction of cacao butter
5) Mixing all ingriedents together
6) Making chocolate into the desired consistency
7)Cooling down chocolate
8) giving Cholocalte differnet forms
9) removing air bublbles

Every step is made in the factory itself. Sugar, milk and packaging may bought.
Steps for making honey
1) Gathering honey from the shell,
2) dividing honey from the wax
3) cleaning of the jars
4) packaging final product
Production of honey is make logic.
Steps to make Pringles
1) Making special tubes
2) Mixing ingredients
3) making chips
4) Cutting of the chips
5) Backing chips
6) Packaging chips.
Production of pringles is make logic.
A) there are three types of chocolate; Milk, White and Dark all three have the same first steps but then to finish consist of different ingredients.
ReplyDeleteStep 1- Plucking and opening the cocoa beans
Step 2 - Fermenting the cocoa seeds
Step 3 - Drying the cocoa seeds
Steps 1 - 3 are done at the cocoa villages, once bought by chocolate companies the dried cocoa seeds are then shipped to the factories where the next steps take place
Step 4 - Roasting and Winnowing the cocoa
Step 5 - Grinding the cocoa nibs, which makes cocoa liquor
Step 6 - Blending cocoa liquor and molding chocolate
Milk Chocolate - sugar, milk or milk powder, cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, Lethicin and Vanilla.
White Chocolate- sugar, milk or milk powder, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, Lethicin and Vanilla.
Plain Dark Chocolate - cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, sugar, Lethicin and Vanilla.
Step 7 - vibration, to remove any bubbles
Step 8 - cooling to allow chocolate to set
Steps 1-3 are usually external businesses who then sell the cocoa beans to the chocolate companies
The production of the packaging in some companies is also externalised allowing a factory to focus solely on the production of the chocolate
B) The production of honey
Step 1 -Honey gets its start as flower nectar, which is collected by bees, naturally broken down into simple sugars and stored in honeycombs.
1) In the chocolate factory case we can distinguish these phases of production:
ReplyDelete- Create plastic models to make specific forms of chocolate products
- Melt the chocolate in a huge boiler
- Fill-up the plastic models with fresh chocolate
- Let them cool down
- Remove them from the plastic models
- Collection and packaging
This process of production is absolutely manageable inside the factory without externalizing any phases.
2) In the honey factory case we can distinguish these following phases of production:
- Beekeepers get the honey's slab from the beehive
- Through the use of a particular machinery the honey is extracted from the slabs
- Dividing honey from the wax
- Honey insertion inside the jars
- Packaging and labeling
The honey production is mainly made inside its own factory but perhaps they could delegate the beekeeping to some breeders specialized in the sector letting them feed the bees during some particular periods of the year.
3) In the Pringles factory case we can distinguish the following phases:
- Production of label paper
- Insertion of the paper in a cylindrical cardboard
- A metal tube is put in the cardboard box
- Finishing the boxes putting lids
- Creation of a huge potato sheet
- Extracting oval pieces from the sheet
- Modifying slightly the form of the potato through a machinery
- Frying
- Combination of labour and capital to divide and check them
- Machinery make the portions
- Packaging and corking
The Pringles factory case show us that is a process completely made inside the factory with a high level of machinery coordination and organization, and therefore there aren't phases of production to externalize.
How is made chocolate:
ReplyDelete1) Removing all extraneous materials and run dried grains
2) Roasting
3) Milk, sugar and vanilla are added
4) Tempering stage
5) Packing
Maybe the packing phase could be externalized.
How is made honey:
1) Natural work of bees
2) Water evaporation into bees’ cells
3) Extrapolation of honey from the cells
4) Bottling
In this production I don’t think we could externalize any phase
How is made Pringles:
1)Construction of tubes
2)Blending water, potatoes flakes and cornstarch
3)Rolling the mix in a long potato sheet
4)Chips are cutted
5)Fried

6. transporting chocolate into the refine machine
7. testing the temperature of the chocolate
8. shaking chocolate to remove bubbles
9. transforming chocolate into different forms.
10. packaging chocolate
this production is based on the logic make but probably packagings are not produced by the firm itself and the machines are bought from other firms (logic buy)
HOW IS MADE HONEY
1.bees produce honey in the beehive.
2.beekeepers spry smoke on bees to enter the hive and take honey cones
3. uncapping machine removes any wax from honey.
4.honey is extracted and filtered
5.honey is ready for bottling
this production is based on the make logic (manufacturing a product in-house). still in this case I think machines are bought from other firms (logic buy)
HOW IS MADE PRINGLES
1.machines make the pringles packaging and cover them on the top
2.potatoes powder are mixed with water
3. potatoes come into the sheet of the machine that makes them concave
4. potatoes are put into hot oil
5.machine gets rid of the extra oil
6. workers inspect the chips
7. chips are put into their packaging.
I think the production is based on both make and buy logic. they buy machines from other firms and they probably buy potatoes from the market.

1) How is made chocolate?
ReplyDeleteCocoa grains are treated in machines and roasted
Then the operators add milk and sugar
Occasional bubbles are removed through shaking machines
Packing phase.
2) How is made honey?
After the natural “work” of the bees an operator sprays into bee cells to get rid of the animals.
Then the honey is extrapolated from the cells and eventual residual beeswax is removed
Lastly the honey is packed into bottles.
3) How is made Pringles?
Paper is rolled and cut
Then a label with the bran of the producer is added
Lastly, the package cover is put on top
To prepare the chips, machines mix together water and potato flakes
The product is then cut and shaped into curves.
Then the chips are fried and packed

ReplyDelete-clean up cacao grains;
-roast cacao grains;
-liquefy cacao;
-extract cacao butter and cacao powder;
-mix cacao with milk and other products;
-refining of chocolate;

How is made chocolate:
ReplyDelete1.
