Blog 2 - The tangible and intangible products

1) Indicate one organization that produces tangible products (e.g. Coca Cola) and one that produces intangible products (Vodafone).

2) Describe the characteristics of those products (e.g. the transportability; intrinsic characteristics), discussing why, in your opinion, some people prefer those product instead of those produced by competitors (e.g. some people choose Coca Cola instead of Pepsi because…).

    1. 1 . Representative for the companies that are producing tangible products I choose McDonald , as for the companies that are producing intangible products Apple .
      2 . KFC was founded in 1930 and McDonald in 1940 . McDonald entered in 120 countries while KFC is entered in 90 countries . Both are producing unhealthy food but according to a study case McDonald remains undefeated in front of KFC because it is using high quality raw materials , but also because its welcomed by childrens . Regarding Apple and Microsoft , we can say that the competition between companies is ancient and well known , but in my opinion most people choose Apple because they created Mac ,a system that guides you step by step and tells you what to do , while Windows by Microsoft leave space for interpretation and choices .

    2. One of the biggest companies/organizations in the world that produce tangible products is SAMSUNG. Its products are undeniably among the bests in the electronic field (e.g., appliances, computers, tablets, phablets etc.). But of course this important company offers services to its customers too.
      I think that lots of people prefer its products than the competitors' ones for the reason that its goods and services are so friendly and easy to use.

      An example of a company that produces intangible products is GOOGLE. Its web search engine service is certainly the best and the most used from everyone (i.e., netizens, students etc.) in the whole world. It also offers many other types of software, like apps and so on. People use it rather than others because it is (I think) the most secured web search engine so far as many things on it are built or has the so called 'open sources' that people can use.

  2. 1)Tiffany & co. produces tangible products like jewelry, while Allianz produces intangible products like the insurance policies.
    2)Tiffany & co. is a famous worldwide jewelry store and some products are accessible to everyone, so instead of buying something from a different brand people prefer to buy something from T&co. because of the importance of the name of the brand.
    People choose Allianz because is cheaper than others.

  3. Ferrero is a firm that provide tangible things and Moody's provide intangible things. With Ferrero we are speaking about of one of the most important multinational firms in the world. It produces and manages chocolate and all his derivative. To transport it around the word probably they needs of means of trasportation which are specific to manage melted food. Surely Ferrero does products of great quality like Nutella of which the recipe is jealously conserved. The great taste of the products and the great organization of the firm in many years have brought a competitive vantage which is turned in great profits. Instead Moody's corporation is a provider of financial ratings. It became during the time one of most important firm of this kind. His costumers keep joining with it because it is so important that his ratings can influence the mondial economy. Furthermore this kind of firms don't have problems to deliver is 'products' around the world, because of the intangibility of his products

    -Itunes produces a intangible product like downloadable music and in my opinion, it's better than the others, because you can listen or download very quickly all the latest songs without wasting time and wherever you are.

  6. -A tangible product could be Fiat, primary producer of cars in Italy. A lot of Italian people choose Fiat's cars, instead of Ford or Toyota, because sometimes the prices are the best and the production is much made in Italy; this is important for italian economy.
    -A intagible product could be Trenitalia, leader in the Italian train market; the service is qualitatively best of competitors.

  9. -BMW produces tangible product as , which is one of the biggest names in the automotive industry. The thing that BMW is famous for is about its cars. People who choose BMW cars, often choose them for their luxury , their class , their qualities's name and their safety instead of other Japanese brands as Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi whose their aim is th reliability of the engine
    -Kaspersky makes intangible products based on the Internet security and anti-virus products. People who choose Kaspersky instead of other companies such is Norton, and Mcfee antivirus, its because kaspersky provides a 100% security on all aspect, it runs without even realizing it instead of other software that they endup irritating and annoying using but basically kaspersky its the one anti-virus that it is easier to use instead of others

    Example of intangible product: Google is an American multinational corporation specializing in Internet-related services and products. These include online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, and software.I think people choose Google,because the search is simple and it gives good results.

  11. an example of a company thet produce tangible product is Nokia, a Sweden company that based its business on informatic items, expecially smarphones and tablets. I think that costumers prefer Nokia's products because of the longevity of that firm in the market is a symbol of its quality; it was also one of the first companies that belived in cellular phones, so it's one of the most famous of this scope.
    A company that produces intagible products is Allianz, a german company of insurance. It is prefered by costumers because of it stability an equality, that are the main characteristics of a company of insurance.

  13. 1-For the tangible products I choose Marlboro , and for the intangible products I choose "sky".
    The first firm , "Marlboro" , is a company that works in the field of tobacco , they produces the cigarettes , the most smoked and popular in the world and also if this firm has got lots of competitors , it still is the favourite for the smokers , maybe for the good quality and taste of the tobacco used by it.
    The other firm, "sky" is a private television company , I think it is the better because it offers more things then the others television companies ( sports, cinema, tv series).

  15. 1) An organization that produces tangible products is Nike Inc., one that produces intangible products Alliance Financial Group.
    2) Since they are tangible goods, Nike's products can be inventoried and transported and their quality is easy to measure. I think one of the reasons some people choose Nike over competitors (eg. Adidas, Reebok) is advertising: its products are often advertised by sport stars, such as Usain Bolt, to catch the eye of the potential customer.

  16. One company which produces tangible products, is Red Bull. I think people may prefer Red Bull not only because of the flavor. Similar drinks taste almost the same but are heaps cheaper. From the way I see it, when people get to see the name Red Bull in formula one, in sports, activities, music and much more they are naturally tended to buy their drink. I think it is more a natural human respond to an environment created by Red Bull itself.
    A company which creates intangible products is Tripadvisor. People like to be able to read feedbacks about restaurant, hotels, places, etc from other people who have been there before. I think Tripadvisor have managed more than other companies to create a better linked worldwide network.
    It may be that these better links to other homepages, the number of people writing on it, and the structure of the homepage brings people to prefer their service instead of others.

  17. An example of a company that produces “tangible products” is Staedtler, a German company that is specialized in writing and drawing instruments for artists, engineers etc.. People prefer its products to those of Koh-i-Noor (one of its competitors) because of their accuracy and their high quality but also because the “economic entity” is “efficient for ecology” as is reported in Staedtler’s website.
    As to companies that produce “intangible products” we have Telecom Italia, an Italian company that provides landline and DSL services as well as mobile lines. Some of its competitors are Vodafone, with regard to mobile communication, and Tiscali, for landline services. The main reason Telecom is chosen by the majority of people for mobile communications is because of its outstanding network connection. Instead, as concerns landline services, because Telecom was the first (and used to be the only) provider of this service, many people simply did not switch to another provider. In any case, nowadays Telecom’s competitors still exploit its wires and facilities.

  18. A company able to produce tangible products is the “De Cecco”, whose aim is that of producing Pasta. Pasta is an important food, above all for the italian nutrition. The high quality of the “De Cecco” is known everywhere, and in this moment it is overcoming the quality of the “Barilla” pasta, because the “De Cecco” is still producing an artisan pasta, instead Barilla works only through industries. But if we travel around the world we can see that “Barilla” is most famous than “De Cecco”, this why? We have to observe what is really important to sell some products, the high quality of the product self or the high quality of the promotion? Maybe Barilla is most famous because of the price, smaller than that of “De Cecco” products, and so it is too easy to export abroad.
    Instead one company producing intagbile products is “Generali Assicurazioni”, giving life, work and car assurances better than “Mediolanum Assicurazioni” for exemple, because it gives more services with a smaller price. It does not means that “Generali Assicurazioni” is the cheaper company in the field of Assurances but it is the best thanks to what it offers to you.

An example of company that products tangible products is L'Oreal that is the larger cosmetic company in the world, it develops its activity in the field of skin care, sun protection, make up and so on. L'Oreal also promotes the pharmaceutical and dermatologic field and is the principal nanotechnology patent-holder in USA. An example of intangible product is "Mediaset Premim" that was born in 2005 and is one of the most important pay per view television in Italy, its main business is related with the "Serie A", then it developed also other kind of channels that transmits film or tv series. Its most important competitor is Sky Italia that offers the same type of service but it has more channels than Mediaset Premium and the quality of the programs in higher so the former has 2.200.000 subscribers and the latter has 40.000.000 subscribers. So the choise is clear, Sky in italy has no competitors.

Heiniken is well known for their commercials wordwide. People all over the world know Heineken. Their beer might not even be the best, but people buy it because of the advertisement. KLM is an example of a company selling untangible goods. KLM is a Dutch airline company. They merged in 2004 with Air-France, but they both fly under their own brand name. They operate passenger and cargo services to more than 90 destinations. It's impossible for KLM to measure the quality of their service. KLM is mostly chosen by business men because they want to fly comfortable.

  21. Born in 1877 Barilla Group is an italian firm leader in the food industry, in the production of pasta. The reason of his success , being a leader in exporting Worldwide, greater than other company such as De cecco, is surely linked to the feeling of tradition and familiarity that produces in users, as well as the quality of the product offered. Google offers a so called "intangible product"; is one of the biggest search engines on the web. His reputation is due to the innovation, the graphics, the precision and the services offered (gmail, google maps, google news, you tube etc..) so particularly for these reasons is definitely the most used search engine ( with a 159 billion of dollars valued brand), more appreciated then yahoo, virgilio, etc.

Peolple prefer Trivago to the others because is easy to use and cheap : you can insert the amount of money you are planning to pay and it fast finds various solutions among which you can choose .

  24. Ray-Ban is an Italian firm, it has been bought by Luxottica a few years ago, that produces tangible products, especially sun-glasses. The idea came to its creator after a trans-Atlantic cruise that led him almost to blindness. His product then became so famous thanks to the US Air Force that decided to buy those Ray-ban anti-glare in order to provide them to its pilots.
    Google Inc. provides an intangible product, the web. In fact it is a search engine. Its story has begun a few years ago, during the 90's, while the Internet was spreading.
    Probably people prefer to wear Ray-ban's sunglasses because it was one of the first that produced those items, so its popularity immediately became worldwide. When others came out with the same idea, it was too late, and the myth of ray-ban was already indestructible.
    Whereas Google it is just the best known search engine. Thanks to its ability to let everybody see and know this product, Google is the most used engine on the web. probably many people know others resources, but when they need something they ask it to Google.
    So even if the two entities works in two completely different fields, the have something in common: they were both pioneers. That is definitely the best advertisement: when somebody thinks to sunglasses, he/she links that thought to Ray-ban, the same happens with the Web.

    In my opinion, some people prefer drinking ‘Acqua Lauretana’ water because of its ‘Total dissolved solids’, in fact that’s the lowest in Europe. Those who suffer from kidney stones, will probably buy it, while who hasn’t got this trouble, may prefer sparkiling water, choosing other brands.

    2) Ryanair is an organization that produces intangible products, it provides transport services.
    In my opinion, some people choose a Ryanair flight because of its cheaper price, even if just a hand luggage is included in it.For sure, their seats are smaller and you cannot reserve the position you want, but all these inconveniences do not deter people from saving money.In terms of fares Ryanir has no competitors, while in terms of luxury and comfort you may turn to ‘Quatar Airways’, ‘Emirates’ or ‘Singapore Airlines’.

    A tangible product can be Nutella which is the brand name of a sweetened hazelnut chocolate spread. Manufactured by the Italian company Ferrero.
    An intangible products could be T-Mobile International AG which is a holding company for Deutsche Telekom AG's various mobile communications subsidiaries outside Germany. Globally, T-Mobile International subsidiaries have a combined total of approximately 230 million subscribers, and will have a total of 250 million by the end of 2014.
    I think people like more nutella than others sweetened hazelnut chocolate spread because its taste it's something that can't be reproduce exacly. This is why it is the most expensive brand.

    Addison Lee is an organization that produce intangible products infact is the largest London minicab company.

    As the name "Air Jordan" can tell us this is a brand of Nike complitely inspiered to the most famous basketball player ever Michael Jordan. In the beginning Nike started to produce just shoes that the Chicago Bulls champion was wearing during his most brillant career years. With the huge advertising potential of the basket NBA those shoes were famous in all the world in few years. The brand became so international and started to produce not just shoes but also t-shirt, singlets, shorts, socks and lot of basketball accesories that let Air Jordan become a brand with no competitors. This is a very big example of productivity increment because Nike using the same products created a new company just focus on basketball wants, making particular products and raising prices improving incredibly the outputs.

Moreover, with the creation of links and pages, a lot of international news and events are spread in this social network.
    Unlike social networks such as MySpace or Twitter, with Facebook people could really know everything about each other even though, maybe, they have never met before : pictures, videos, personal info, friends, links... everything is public unless the user decides to make them private. By the way,in my opinion, the fact that this social network allowed to know so much about anyone, make it so popular and addictive for the users.

    A company that produces intangible products is INA Assitalia.
    I think that some people prefer SAMSUNG instead of other competitors because it covers a larger market including phone, .softwares, tv etc offering high quality products with a reasonable prices.
    INA Assitalia is a company that offers insurances. It is the best in offering health insurance for students and its preferable because it is more economic then the others and you can get it very fast(you can pay directly in post office or online)

    A company that produces tangible products is Ducati. As a corporate group that meets the needs of customers through non-tangible items is Sky.
    The majority of people when faced with a spending tends to choose the best product quality / price. The Ducati is not one of the most affordable bike manufacturers but it certainly can bet strong on buyers who demand quality and reliability. For Sky, of course, the main comparison is with Mediaset Premium. Both companies are trying to be as copetitive possible by offering packages tv more and more affordable! What I think about Sky advantages is the provision of services, which perfectly meets the demands of the public: best shots and a wider choice of channels.

Zara doesn`t advertise, because they don`t need to, in three weeks almost all the products of stores are changed. Its update is so fast that from design to the end of production can take just one week. Moreover the supply is always limited, it`s the same even for the best sellers, the company does not replenish old designs. Zara provides not only woman clothes, but also man`s and kid`s. So one store can satisfy all the members of family. In addition, now we have also Zara Home collection.
    An example of intangible product is an English website called ``Feel unique ``. In this website customers can find almost all skin care, hair or make up products with right preces and Free Shipping all around the world! That's means people can save a lot of money in delivery which is the main reason that impedes customers to buy products abroad.

    One organization that produces intangible products is "Spotify". Spotify is one of the most popular audio streaming services in use and it's available on the common operating systems such as iOS, Android ,BlackBerry an so on.
    One of the competitors of Mondadori is " La Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore". Some people might prefer Mondadori because gives various choice about genres, themes, period and artists. Also its products are reliable for what concerns endurance, quality and availability.
    One of the competitors of Spotify is "Rdio". People prefer Spotify instead of Rdio because of its vast music library as well as the quality audio provided by this service.

    2) EasyJet is a famous British airline carrier based at London Luton Airport. It is the largest airline of the United Kingdom.   37. From the the companies that produce tangible products. I choose Starbucks. Starbucks is American company that operates worldwide. It has coffeehouse chains around the world. From the companies that offer intangible products I chose Unicredit bank. Unicredit is Italian global banking and financial services company.
    The reason behind choosing one product or service as customer is diverse. Reasons may include price, geographical location, personal preferences, quality of product and etc. However, as a customer I prefer Starbucks, because it provides quality coffee, is delicious and famous. Reasons behind choosing Unicredit include its geographical location (it has many branches), good rates and short waiting time.

  40. Nike produce tangible products, where as Facebook is an inngible company. These two companies are the biggest in the world in their given field, so why do we choose these companies rather than their competitors. As you know nike or nikey or mainly known for their production of trainers but why nike instead of adidas or puma. Now obviously adidas and puma still strive as a business but nike is definitely the market leader, I think this is mainly due to the vast amounts of advertising, through bill boards tv and even on celebraties this allows us to subconsciously believe that we need to wear these shoes and not other brands. Nike also produce shoes that cater for all types of people allowing them to focus on the whole market and not just specifics.
    Facebook is an intangible company it produces a service rather than a product, we use Facebook for the main reason that everyone else uses Facebook, but why does everyone else? I believe this is because of its easy lay out, its simplicity to use and its unique design

In my opinion the why of its fame is the quality and the style of its items which, not without reasons, cost quite a lot. Working in the field of clothing, it has a lot of competitors like La Coste, Ralph Lauren, Peutery, that produce similar articles trying to give their best to the customers; then it’s up to buyers deciding which are the best ones.
    On the other hand an organization that produce intangible products is Mediaset S.p.A, an Italian private television entity that let the realization of television fictions, talk shows, newscasts and lots of other programs that Italians love to watch, rising, this way, its overall profit. The main competitor in the field of television is Rai, which is quite the same, with the only difference to be public, thus financed by our citizens taxes.

    In my opinion one of the most success tangible company is Sephora. It has a great number of stores over the world . Only in China it has 100 stores like some big city,Shanghai Beijing not only have one Sephora. It gather many brands of make-up . For customers is very convenience. the sellers in the shop are also can be a dresser, they are professional. Let me say something about China Mobile, it has the best services in China because the service peoples' attitude are kind and passion. Many people choose him maybe something only because the attitude of the services people .

  45. An example of tangible product could be "Burger King", a fast food company. It's very famous in the world because it offers fast meals at very competitive prices. A strong Burger King's competitor is McDonald's, but I prefer the first one because of its better products, especially the chips.
    "Booking.com" is an intangible product company; it gives you the opportunity to book hotel rooms and apartments all over the world simply from home by your computer, smartphone or tablet. I like his user-friendly interface and I think it's better than his competitors (e.g Trivago) for this quality.

    In my view the reason of the McDonald's successful is fast, the "fast" satisfy present people's need, although it's not good to health.

    A company that offers intagible products is: Caspersky (antivirus)
    The customers choose Benz because it iìhas a high reputation, high quality, one of the best brands in the world and it is secure. The price is almost affordable by people with relatively medium/high incomes.
    Caspersky is an intangible product and among others like, AVIRA, AVG, AVAST etc, is more expensive but it is considered the best in the market. Even though the intensity of change is very high in thin industry, and the rank changes very often.

    Hollywood produce the intangible product likes movie.
    In my opinion,it's different feeling that we wear the Nike's clothing or not.if we wear the Nike's clothing and feel so good that we didn't want to buy the others product.Therefore I think it is why people always buy Nike not the others.
    Sometimes we will feel boring in our life,so will go to theater to watch a movie.Maybe it can change my opinion in life.We choose Hollywood's movie because of a style of large scene can give me power.
