1)&3) In the cases of chocolate and the Pringles I think it's important to produce different flavors with the addition of several ingredients, and make different packages for special occasions based on events during the year for example Christmas, Halloween or san Valentine's day.

In my opinion, concerning chocolate and Pringles, productivity can be increased by adding or an efficient kind of advertising and letting the customers choose between a wide range of products (for example different flavours/packages). As regrards honey, a higher productivity can be achieved through a professional training of workers and beekeepers, improving the equipment and machinery, having more hives and bees or a better environment to breed them.

Another factor that increases the productivity of an 'azienda' is the use of advanced manufacturing systems, such as machinery and techniques for working with high efficiency.
For example it is used in production processes the assembly line, that allows to have highly specialized staff in each sector, while saving time.
So, in my opinion, we could increase the productivity of workers following these general rules valid for every 'azienda' (regardless of what they produce).
I don't think that the 'ratio of outputs to inputs' could be influenced by fabricating variations of the original product.
To increase the productivity of these kind of products, first of all, we could follow some different strategies which concern employees, machines and resources.

Finally, we could obtain more competitive advantages buy focusing our attention on sustainability: the usage of renewable resources it's an oppotunity to save money and respect the enviroment.
In the case of chocolate and pringles, we could have more productivity by using different ingredients ,such as a variety of fruit for the chocolate and of spices for pringles, and creating special editions and new offers ( for example discounts related to time and events). While, in the case of honey, I think that increasing the number of bees and improving the beekeeping we could have a higher production of honey.
In the chocolate factorys cases to increase the workers productivity they should make more particular products where manufacturing must operates (ex. as shown in the videos differents colours of garnish where the ability of workers is needed).

In the Pringles factory case to increase the production would be helpful make costant trainings for the workers and improve their confidence, specially in this case where the products is mainly made from machinery.
The workers in Pringles factory operate basically in checking the products. Being well trained on what they are checking after machinary's job may raise the level of production going close to the perfection.

1)Regarding the chocolate video, I would suggest, in oder to keep the keep the workers motivated, offer a higher shift flexibility (what does not happen in most industries). Only motived workers can operate in a efficient way and contribute to a common goal. As the companies wants to offer a product of high quality, this can only be done with satisfied workers.
ReplyDelete2)In the second video, I´d suggest to make use of more machines. In the video, different steps of the production are still done manually. With the use of a machines, the operator could be more productive.
3)In the third video, I think we could change the shape of the chips. If they would be triangle or rectangle, that could save time in the process involving the rotary cutter. This way there would be less scraps which have to go through the cutter twice which will make the whole process quicker.
The only way to increase productivity is to reduce the inputs trying to maintain the previous output or the opposite, increase the output maintaining the same inputs. However the productivity of these systems is difficult to improve because they already employ high level technologies and manufacturing systems. As to the productivity of the workers, in general, specialized personnel that are employed in highly satisfactory working/environments and conditions are very motivated and care about the financial entity. Therefore they work (and produce) more efficiently and effectively.

This activity would make the workers feel satisfied about their job and also feel more important than the over- used machines. ReplyDeleteIn the second video , the one that talks about honey, the productivity of workers could be increased by searching for new space needed by the bees to reproduce themself from spring to summer. Workers should also feed them when it's the right time to do it, for example when there is the scarcity of nectar.
In the third case instead, the worker's productivity should be increased by checking and organizing the order of the production of pringles made by machines. Their observations would make them feel proud about their job.
To increase productivity (the ratio output/input) the entrepreneurs should train their workers and make them pay attention in every detail of the production process and try to decrease wasting any kind of production materials. Workers should be involved and concerned about the firm's interests so they will work for the firm and not for its owner because a successful firm brings its stakeholders to succeed too.

Also only motivated workers work at there best and you could motivate them by having long paid holidays or by having good working conditions. In the case of producing Honey the better the living conditions for the bees the more production.
By always having the newest machines and systems. This not only helps the output of production, but also the workers.
In my opinion to increase productivity the entrepreneur should choose good workers: this means that the workers should be training to increase their skills. Motivation is essential because the motivated workers are the best, it is really important to balance the free time with the work time.It is also important to give them machines or something to increase the production in their works. In the case of the chocolate each worker should be skilled in a particular kind of chocolate so he/she will feel proud of the job . In the second case the production of the honey could be increased adding more bees or just let living them in a better condition. ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I think a good way to increase the productivity is motivating the workers. Say them how much they are important, creating the team spirit. As Rousseau said, a society can work only if everyone does its own duty in the better way he (or she) can. The director might assume well prepared workers, which have experience with chocolate and honey. Incresing the quality of the products can be a good way to promote the brand and –as a consequence- the azienda. Another way is tryng new tastes in all the three cases. In the case of chocolate, trying to add spieces to it. In the case of pringles, trying to cook them in other ways: baking them can be a cheaper way to produce pringles and a way to attract more costums looking for more healty products. Another way is creating some special packages. For istance, cholocolate or pringols can contain a surprise in the box to attire children. In this way, the product is the same, but the new look can increase the demand.

The owners could pay training courses for the employees to made them faster, more efficient but most of all to motivate them and make them more conscious of their importance in the company. Another way to use part of the profit is to spent it in renovation of the machine to speed the process and help the workers. Creating Seminars and courses which they would help them increase the productivity and keep them on their goal, to achieve motivation on your workers you can create something like "employer of the month" with giving them an additional bonus each month to the one that will succeed the most. Speaking of increased materials you can add some more flavors or even more ingredients so you can make your product more interesting for example you can add some nuts or even fruit on your plain chocolate and on the case of pringles add more ingredients to your recipe to give different kind of flavor or aroma. About the honey you can study the procedures of how you gonna work with bees and study on what way your bees will be more productive also you can combine bee honey with other honeys and bring the result you want so you can maximize your productivity (for example bee-honey with carob syrup)

In my opinion ways to increase the productivity of workers is to motivate them. Ways to motivate the employees will be same for chocolate and honey factory.

Monetary: managers can motivate staff by giving bonuses for best performance, attendance, and etc. They also can offer good health coverage.
Non-monetary: Managers should meet employees in person and ask them for the feedback. Also top management may organize family days and introduce objectives and strategies of the company to its employees this way everybody will get engaged in the company's day to day operations and therefore have better performance.
For the pringles company to increase the productivity it will need to invest more money in technicals and adapting machinery as the most of the work is done by the machinery.

After watching the videos, the process of producing these goods seems incredibly difficult which is surprising since I believe these processes can be easily modified. For example in the chocolate video it is mentioned that it takes 12 hours to cook. By improving the capital or labor, these processes can be improved.
